Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Shyne — from getting started to safety, privacy, and venues.

Shyne is a proximity-based social discovery app for real-world venues. When you check into a bar, club, festival, or event, you become visible to others in the same space. You can send structured "approach signals" to people you want to meet, and they respond on their own terms before any interaction happens. It is not a dating app or a social network — it is a layer that makes the first step of meeting someone structured, low-risk, and consent-first.

When you arrive at a participating venue, scan the QR code displayed at the entrance or inside the venue. This checks you into the venue session. Before committing, you can see how many people are already visible, so you know what to expect. Check-in is always explicit — Shyne never adds you automatically.

Yes. Shyne is currently free to download and use. All core features — checking in, sending and receiving signals, responding, and chatting — are available at no cost.

Shyne is launching with select nightclubs and bars in partner cities. Venues self-register on the platform to generate their own QR codes and access an anonymized check-in dashboard. As we grow, more venues across more cities and event types (festivals, campuses, conferences) will be added.
